The Darna Origin, My Take...
Just wanted to share the few reference materials i have gathered to make sense of darna's origin and design. here are some stuff my research uncovered. if you want to read more about the ties, just google them for more info.
Point 1: Darna stated that she came from the planet marte, and she was dressed in a bird motiff in red and gold colors. even her name came from the word adarna a creature which can be found one one of the most popular folktales in the Philippines, the tale of the Adarna is one that is filled with adventure and magic.
Notes: Superman, Kal-El was from the red-giant planet called krypton. his surname el, can be found on most angelic names like micheal, gabriel,etc. the annunakis are sometimes referred to as angels.
Ties 1: Ancient myths spoke of the first old gods, the Annunakis' referred as "those who came from above". most often depicted as winged creatures. they came from the red planet also called Nibiru, the twelft planet. it visits our solar system every 3500 years.
Point 2: darna's head gear, is composed of a circle with wings.
Ties 2: Nibiru, the planet of the old gods, has many symbols and these symbols can also be reference in various old pantheon, for some ties please go here http://www.crystalinks.com/omphalosarcs.html. here are some of them with darna. see how the symbols resemble each other. i included the heart chakra in relation to the stars on darna's chest. you be the judge.
Point 3: Valentina, Darna's old nemesis.
Ties: Sumerian origin, depicted the two brothers Enlil and Enki, sons of Anu the All-Father. Enlil, the god of earth and wind. The master of men's fates. Symbol of the gods authority on earth. Enki, the Sumerian high god of water and intellect, creation, wisdom and medicine who could restore the dead to life. He was the source of all secret and magical knowledge of life and immortality. His symbol caudeceus, also known as the symbol of the DNA structure and healing used by the medical profession. Since ancient Mesopotamia the caduceus presented two serpents intertwined (the central nervous system) around a staff (the spinal column) with the wings (the "swan") on either side (the two hemispheres of the brain, with the circle in the center representing the pineal gland, or the central sun and psychic center within).
The serpent always represents spiritual wisdom, life and healing. The first symbols of serpents were attributed to Enki and then Ninhursag. However, the story of the serpent becoming an evil symbol began with the wars between Enki and his brother, Enlil (later known by the name "Allah"). These conflicts began at birth and had to do with birthright to the royal throne of the Nibiruan civilization in which their father, Anu, was the leader and father to Enki and Enlil. There was a time when Anu felt Enki (due to his wisdom and magical abilities) was the only savior of the Anunnaki people ("Enuma Elish"). Enlil's anger with Enki caused him to twist the truth around to make the serpent evil. It was war against brothers, while it's a war against Darna and Valentina.
so far, this is what i got, and wonder if the late mars ravelo had the same theory. but then i doubt if these info was readily available then. the superman/captain marvel/wonder woman angle seems to be the only possible explanation.
QUESTION? why do all of these? simply put, i wanted to weave my own story for darna, and back then the origin of the stone has never been told. and then i saw GMA's Darna. it was, but too bad it's still the same cliches of tv soap, the rich will abuse the poor and all those stuff. how i wish it was better and how i wish they use my story, after all some of it was already used in the mango comics darna.
Here goes:
On the farthest reachest of the solar system, a large red planet hardly have been seen in the new era revolves around the sun for 3,500 years. it's denizens have been called gods on earth, "those who came from above" and the annunakis. they are believe to be the creators of mankind by genetic manipulation. here in this red planet, a war that started on the planet called earth which destroyed the ancient civilizations continues. a fight of brother against brother. a fight which started because of the rulership of the earth more than 3,600 years ago.the battle here almost resulted on the extinction of their male population, thus the brothers decided to settle the war on a different way. each brother, who are also the greatest genetecist of their planet sought to create the finest warriors to represent them.
the first of the brother, of the eagle clan created his champion garbed in majestic red and gold, he called the warrior da.r. na. armed with the symbol of her creator, she wields a winged staff of power similar to the eye of osiris in egyptian mythology. the 2nd brother, of the serpent clan created a warrior garbed in emerald green resembling the gorgon of the ancient greek myth, armed with a caudeceus like staff similar to the symbol of mercury .the 2nd brother called his champion mae.du.sa.
the battle continues, without having to sacrifice anymore life. but the brothers made them so powerful, that the battle ravaged the planet even more. the battle moved to space. da.r.na and mae.du.sa zigszags each other in the darkness of space, blasting each other with their staff releasing energy with enough power to destroy small worlds. the hit each other in hand-to-hand combat with force enough to shatter a planet. though created equal, da.r.na made use of her greater skill to best her enemy until she stab mae.du.sa. mae.du.sa realising she's on the losing end, then quickly tackled da.r.na and channeled all her power to destroy her enemy. the energy released from the explosion was equivalent to power their world for a million years.
mae.du.sa died in the explosion, while da.r.na is mortally wounded and dying. her helpless formed along with the lifeles corpse floated in the darkness of space until they drifted into a nearby wormhole. as both bodies were sucked in, they glowed until they can no longer be seen.
about 25 years ago, in the vicinity of the sun of the solar system, space folded up while the sun seems to light up in protest because of the influx of great magnetic pull. a wormhole forms and releases a glowing object with a trajectory path directly to the third planet. the object crash landed near the mountains. nearby a female was washing clothes saw the crash and decided to investigate. seeing the crater of the crash, the female went down and saw an egg like object. using a stick, she punctured the egg, and green oozey slime burst forth covering her face and even managing to swallow some of it. feeling icky and barely satisfied with what she saw, she returns to her washing and then went home. she was met by her loving husband. a month later, she became pregnant, and the couple were so happy because they have been childless for more than ten years.
19 years ago, the same wormhole appears once again on the same spot. once again it releases another glowing object headed on almost the same direction as the first. this time a young girl about the age of 10 witness the glowing while playing hide and seek with her friends. cheerfully she began to track the woods and found the glowing object. holding it in her hands and marveling at her newfound treeasure. then the glow died off and she found some writings on the small object resembling some old cuneiform (pictograms or drawings). she then went back to her playmates, but fearing they would see her prize and take it away from her, she put it in her mouth, but then due to some unknown factor, made her swallow it. having lost her prize, the young girl continued to play with her playmates until it was time to go home.
going home with her kid brother who was also playing, she then recanted the story to her old grandmother. and when asked by her grandmother what was the writing she found, she said da - r - na. darna! and boom, she was covered by a blinding white light. and where the young girl was standing now reveals the warrior DA.RA.NA.!
And the legend continues....
